PETALING JAYA:
Applications to join the Subsidised Diesel Control System (SKDS) for land transport vehicles in Sabah, Sarawak and Labuan will open from May 4.

According to the domestic trade and cost of living ministry (KPDN), applications for diesel subsidies can be made through the MySubsidi portal at mysubsidi.kpdn.gov.my from 9am.

Eligible land freight transport companies can receive subsidies for vehicles registered under SKDS, subject to the rates set by the government.

“The current subsidised diesel price for the land freight transport sector under SKDS is RM2.15 per litre,” said the ministry in a statement.

On April 6, deputy prime minister Fadillah Yusof said diesel subsidies for land transport will be expanded to Sabah, Sarawak and Labuan through SKDS.

KPDN said eligibility for land freight vehicle registration under SKDS requires valid and active motor vehicle licences (LKM), as well as registration with the commercial vehicle licensing boards in Sabah or Sarawak.

The company, business or cooperative must also be registered with the Companies Commission of Malaysia, local authorities or the Malaysia Co-operative Societies Commission, and have their vehicles listed under the 23 approved freight vehicle categories in SKDS.

KPDN said subsidised diesel purchases will be made using fleet cards. Companies approved under SKDS must apply for cards with their oil company of choice and submit their approval letters and vehicle lists, which can be printed from the SKDS system.

Companies may submit applications to up to three oil companies — Petronas, Shell and Petron.

“Fleet card processing and delivery will take between two and three weeks. The validity of the SKDS approval letter depends on the LKM or road tax period.

“LKM and road tax must be updated before the 28th of each month, and the LKM expiry date must extend into the following month to ensure that the applicant is eligible for the following month’s subsidy,” said the ministry.
