Man hurt after falling from 5th floor of flats in Jelutong

Firefighters say the 53-year-old is believed to have been suffering from a mental illness.

A man was seriously injured after falling from the fifth floor of a flat in Taman Seri Perak, Jelutong, onto the roof of the building’s first floor this evening

The Penang fire and rescue department said an eight-man team was sent to the scene at about 7pm.

In a statement, operations commander Akmal Nasujan said they rescued the unconscious man, aged 53, from the roof and handed him over to medical officers, who sent him to a nearby hospital.

“The victim is believed to have been suffering from a mental illness, according to his victim’s mother,” said Akmal.
