SHAH ALAM:
The human resources ministry is refining a proposal to implement maternity leave aid allowance via the Social Security Organisation (Perkeso), says minister R Ramanan.

He said the proposed allowance under Perkeso’s insurance system is expected to benefit more than 100,000 mothers nationwide.

“Women are not merely contributors; they are also the main drivers of the national economy,” he said at the launch of the national Labour Day celebration here.

Ramanan said his ministry is developing more measures aimed at improving worker wellbeing.

“Many more plans are being formulated and will be implemented in stages to enhance workers’ welfare,” he said.
