The Malaysian Highway Authority (LLM) estimated that about 2.9 million vehicles will enter Kuala Lumpur by late tonight, Berita Harian reported.

It said most of the traffic is coming from the north, south, and east coast, mainly via the North-South Expressway, Kuala Lumpur-Karak Highway, and East Coast Expressway

“Yesterday, traffic was heavier from the east coast, but today, we are seeing more significant increases from the north and south,” LLM said.

It also said several accidents on the road have caused delays, including one on the North-South Expressway from Gopeng to Tapah (southbound) at Km321, and a broken-down lorry from Changkat Jering to Kuala Kangsar at Km231.7.

No accidents have been reported on southbound routes into the capital, but traffic remains heavy.

“Thirty smart lanes have been activated along the main highways to help ease traffic flow during this peak period,” it said.
