2 killed, 4 injured after car crashes into tree in Putrajaya

PETALING JAYA:
Two men were killed and four others were seriously injured after a car hit a tree in Precinct 1, Putrajaya, this afternoon. Several victims were thrown out of the vehicle on impact, firefighters said.

Police said the accident occurred when a man in his 20s lost control of his vehicle while in the right lane and skidded to the left shoulder of the road and hit a tree.

“Following the crash, two men, in their teens to early 20s, were pronounced dead at the location due to serious head injuries,” said Kuala Lumpur traffic police chief Zamzuri Isa. The driver and several other passengers sustained injuries and are being treated at Putrajaya Hospital.

He urged those with information on the incident to contact the Putrajaya traffic police at 03-88862138 or the nearest police station.

The Putrajaya fire and rescue department said firefighters responding to an emergency call found that a Proton Saga had skidded before hitting a tree.

Operations assistant director M Haziq Hazmi said two men were confirmed dead at the scene while four others were taken to hospital. Firemen cut down trees to clear the road.

3 killed as two vehicles collide

In another accident at Kampung Selepong Jinggau, Sri Aman, Kuching, this morning, three people were killed and five others injured.

The accident involved two vehicles, a Proton X70 and a Perodua Alza. The Alza caught fire and was destroyed.

The three victims in the Proton X70, comprising a 70-year-old man and two women, each aged 22, were confirmed dead at the scene.

Two other passengers in the same vehicle, a six-year-old boy and a four-year-old boy, suffered head injuries and were sent to Sri Aman Hospital for further treatment.

Meanwhile, three victims in the Perodua Alza, consisting of a woman and two boys, managed to escape with minor injuries before the vehicle burst into flames.
