PETALING JAYA:
The Seremban sessions court today ordered a teenager to be sent to a Henry Gurney School until he is 21 years old for raping a 16-year-old acquaintance he had met online.

Judge Surita Budin handed down the sentence after Zulhakimi Zulhilmi, 18, pleaded guilty under Section 376(1) of the Penal Code to rape, Kosmo reported.

Surita urged the teenager to take the opportunity to learn new skills and retake his Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia examination.

Zulhakimi was accused of raping the girl at a house at Taman Kemuning in Seremban, Negeri Sembilan, between 3.30am and 4am on Aug 30.

The victim had messaged Zulhakimi to send her home after going to a karaoke centre with a friend, but he took her to the house instead.

Legal aid department lawyer Hanis Anisah Jamiludin, representing Zulhakimi, requested the minimum penalty for her client, and proposed that he undergo community service.

Hanis said Zulhakimi is only 18 and working for his father as a construction worker to support their family and three siblings who are still in school.
