Cop believed to be mastermind behind 5 Kelantan robberies held

PETALING JAYA:
A police officer was arrested yesterday for allegedly masterminding five robberies in Kota Bharu, Kelantan.

The 43-year-old suspect, who is currently suspended for an earlier drug offence, was detained at a house in Pengkalan Chepa at 7pm, Berita Harian reported.

Several items were seized during the arrest, including a fake pistol used in the robberies, yaba pills, helmets and watches.

Kelantan police chief Yusoff Mamat said the suspect was arrested after a report was lodged following a robbery at a clothing boutique in Kota Bharu on Nov 10.

The case is being investigated for robbery under Section 392 of the Penal Code, and for drug possession and consuming drugs under Sections 12(2) and 15(1) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
