PETALING JAYA:
Sabah Perikatan Nasional today announced that it will contest 40 of the 73 seats up for grabs in the Nov 29 state election.

Coalition chairman Muhyiddin Yassin announced the list of candidates in Kota Kinabalu, with state PN chief Ronald Kiandee to contest for the Sugut seat long held by Barisan Nasional.

Sugut falls under the Beluran parliamentary constituency, which Kiandee has represented in the Dewan Rakyat for six terms now.

Caretaker state community development minister James Ratib was Sugut assemblyman from 2013 until the dissolution of the 16th assembly last month.

Originally from Umno, Ratib left for Upko in 2018 before returning to Umno two years later. He then joined Parti Gagasan Rakyat Sabah in 2023.

Muhyiddin also announced that PN will field Sabah PAS chief Aliakbar Gulasan in Karambunai, a state seat which falls under the Sepanggar parliamentary constituency held by PKR.

Umno’s Yakubah Khan was elected Karambunai assemblyman in 2020, and will be seeking to be elected to a second term.
