Anifah had declared his intention to contest the seat in May and challenge the incumbent, Warisan’s Daud Yusof.
Hajiji said he was certain the constituency would be represented by a government party once again for the sake of its development.
“If GRS, its component parties and machinery remain stable, united with the people’s support, I am confident GRS will take Bongawan,” he said at an event today in Bongawan.
In the 16th Sabah election, PCS candidates lost in all the 73 seats they contested in, with Anifah losing in Bongawan.
Before Daud, the seat was held by current deputy foreign minister Mohamad Alamin from Umno.
