BUTTERWORTH:
Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad (KTMB) confirmed that a Komuter train had derailed at the end of the track at Platform 4 of the Butterworth station early today.

KTMB said there were no passengers in the six coaches in the 6am incident, when it was operating under its daily schedule.

“The KTMB technical team arrived at the location immediately after the incident, and work to remove the coaches is under way to ensure the safety of the area and smooth operations at the station.

“Passengers at Butterworth Station are advised to comply with all safety instructions given by station staff to ensure smooth movement and safety of all parties,” the statement said.

KTMB said it is conducting further investigations to identify the exact cause of the derailment and will provide updates as new information becomes available.

It gave the assurance that operational and passenger safety remains its priority, and all necessary measures are being taken to ensure that train services continue to run smoothly as usual.
