Cops confirm 11-year-old boy died following water confidence programme

Kuala Lumpur police chief Fadil Marsus says an investigation has been opened into the incident, which happened at the Desa Tasik sports complex's pool.

Police have confirmed that a student from SK Bandar Tasik Selatan has died following an event at the Desa Tasik sports complex in Sungai Besi, Kuala Lumpur, on Nov 5.

Kuala Lumpur police chief Fadil Marsus said a report was received on the incident involving an 11-year-old boy who was taking part in a water confidence programme at the swimming pool of the sports complex last Wednesday.

“The student was taken to Hospital Canselor Tuanku Muhriz in Cheras and was pronounced dead  at 2.30pm on Nov 7.

“The boy’s remains were laid to rest at the Muslim burial grounds in Sungai Udang, Melaka, yesterday,” he said in a statement.

Fadil said an investigation has been opened into the case.
