Harian Metro reported that in the 4am incident, the 31-year-old owner of the car, his wife and one-year-old son were sleeping when a neighbour woke them up to tell them their Toyota Camry was on fire.
The man immediately moved the other nearby vehicles to keep the fire from spreading to the rest of the house.
Kluang police chief Bahrin Noh said they received an emergency call at 4.16am about the fire, and checks later found the threatening note.
“The fire was extinguished by the Kluang fire and rescue department at 4.30am,” he said.
Bahrin said a forensic team from the Johor police headquarters is working to determine the cause of the fire.
“Investigations are ongoing under Section 435 of the Penal Code for mischief by fire and Section 506 of the same code for criminal intimidation. Police are still looking for the suspect,” he said.
Bahrin urged members of the public with information to contact the nearest police station or the Kluang police headquarters at 07-7784222 or 07-7766822.
