PETALING JAYA:
The Putrajaya MRT line resumed normal services at 5.27pm today following a disruption caused by three people who intruded onto the rail line allegedly to steal cables.

Rapid Rail Sdn Bhd said the intrusion was reported at 2.24pm somewhere between the Sri Damansara Barat and Sri Damansara Sentral stations.

“The individuals are suspected to have been involved in an attempt to steal cables at the location. As a precautionary measure, power to the tracks was cut to allow auxiliary policemen to check the area and locate the suspects.

“Police were mobilised to the scene soon after a report was lodged by Rapid Rail,” it said in a statement.

The statement did not mention if the three men were caught.

The rail operator apologised for the inconvenience caused to commuters, saying the alternative train and bus services had  ended with the resumption of the MRT services.

It was the third disruption to the Putrajaya MRT line in two weeks.

Last month, a disruption believed to have been caused by cable theft forced train services to be operated manually, while another disruption occurred after a person intruded onto the tracks.

The individual was detained by the authorities.
