Sibu sessions court judge Musyiri Peet imposed the sentence on Rahim Shim Abdullah, 57, after he pleaded guilty, The Borneo Post reported.
He was sentenced to 10 years each for voluntarily causing grievous hurt to his wife, 46, and daughter, 20, with a dangerous weapon.
He was charged with committing the offences at a house on Lorong Permai Jaya 9D2 at 5.38am on Oct 29.
The court ordered Rahim to serve his jail terms consecutively.
According to the case facts, the daughter called the cops at around 5.44am to report that her father had attacked her mother.
Prior to the arrival of the police, her cousin and grandfather had arrived at the house and found Rahim’s wife with multiple slash wounds lying on the floor. The daughter was also found with injuries.
Rahim was arrested the same day in a durian orchard in Kanowit.
During mitigation, Rahim said he often got into arguments with his wife and that he suspected she was having an affair.
He claimed he felt “blurry” during the incident and that he heard sounds that prompted him to commit the offences.
Rahim, who was not represented, said he regretted his actions and sought a lenient sentence.
