Zaim Ikhwan Zahari, 30, said he could not accept today’s ruling, but conceded that he would have to come to terms with it as he had with his son’s murder.
“I am disappointed with today’s decision. I pray that all those involved in the injustice and slander against my family will be cursed by God.
“I urge the police to continue investigating to find my son’s killer, who is still out there,” he told FMT after court proceedings here.
Zaim also urged Bukit Aman to appoint a new investigating officer to probe his son’s murder, saying he no longer had faith in the current officer because of an apparent lack of transparency.
FMT has contacted the police for comment.
Earlier, Zaim lost his composure in court after judge Syahliza Warnoh refused to stay the execution of the sentence imposed on his wife, Ismanira Abdul Manaf, pending her appeal to the High Court.
Ismanira, also 30, was ordered to begin serving her sentence immediately.
Zaim was heard shouting, “May the wrath of God fall (on you)”, before being calmed down by his father, Zahari Reba.
He later said he would “reveal everything” at a press conference, but cancelled it.
Syahliza found Ismanira guilty of neglecting Zayn, saying the prosecution had proven its case beyond a reasonable doubt.
The court also ordered Ismanira to sign a two-year good behaviour bond with one surety and a security deposit of RM3,000.
She also has to perform 120 hours of community service within six months of completing her prison term.
Zayn was reported missing in Damansara Damai on Dec 5, 2023, and was found dead the next day.
The post-mortem revealed multiple injuries, including defensive wounds. The cause of death was believed to be strangulation.
