RMAF officer, wife charged with duping superior on Lima contract

The couple is accused of using a false quotation of RM24,200 to secure a procurement deal at the international exhibition.

SHAH ALAM:
A Royal Malaysian Air Force officer and his wife claimed trial in the sessions court here today to duping his superior to secure a procurement contract at the Langkawi International Maritime and Aerospace Exhibition (Lima) 2025 in May.

Shahrul Nizam Shaf’in, 51, was charged with colluding with his wife, Citra Angrini Alam Mappiase, 36, the owner of a company called Protective Trading & Advisory Services, to commit the offence.

Shahrul is accused of conspiring with Citra to cheat Norli Hisham Alwi, chief of staff at the Subang air operations command headquarters, by submitting a false quotation worth RM24,200 to approve D Draxis Group Sdn Bhd as the supplier of support equipment for Lima 2025.

Shahrul, who was charged under Section 109 of the Penal Code read with Section 417, faces up to five years in prison, a fine, or both, if convicted.

Citra was charged with cheating under Section 417 of the Penal Code, which provides for the same sentence, upon conviction.

The offences were allegedly committed at Jalan Kenyalang 11/13 in Bayu Damansara, Kota Damansara, on May 13.

Shahrul has been suspended from his duties as principal assistant secretary of RMAF’s defence industry division.

Amir Bakri Che Abdul, 32, who works under Subang RMAF’s procurement division, was also charged with colluding with the couple to commit the offence. He claimed trial.

Deputy public prosecutor Alis Izzati Azurin Rusdi prosecuted, while Shahrul and Citra were represented by lawyer Tunku Sulaiman Harmy.

Amir was unrepresented.

Judge Nasir Nordin set bail at RM7,000 each for Shahrul and Amir, and RM8,000 for Citra. Case mention has been fixed for Dec 8.
