PETALING JAYA:
Some 150 people, including sports legends and veterans, will take part in a walk with Pahang’s Al-Sultan Abdullah Sultan Ahmad Shah next month, aimed at celebrating Malaysia’s sporting heritage.

The “Walk With Al-Sultan Abdullah: The King of Sports” event will be held at the iconic Stadium Merdeka on Wednesday (Nov 5), bringing together former athletes from various sports who put the Jalur Gemilang on the international stage.

Among the legends who will be present are football greats Santokh Singh and Soh Chin Ann, sprint queen G Shanti and badminton icon Rashid Sidek.

It will also be attended by former national diver Leong Mun Yee, former national men’s hockey captain Nor Saiful Zaini Nasiruddin and former national rugby player Jagjit Singh.

Organised by sports public relations firm ShekhinahPR and Yayasan Al-Sultan Abdullah, the symbolic walk seeks to unite Malaysians in celebrating and recognising the athletes who have shaped the nation’s sports history.

It also seeks to encourage healthy living through walking as both an inclusive and accessible activity, while forging closer ties between Al-Sultan Abdullah and the community.

“‘Walk With Al-Sultan Abdullah: The King of Sports’ is more than an event. It is an initiative that celebrates unity, wellness and heritage through the simplest of acts,” said ShekhinahPR CEO Christopher Raj.

“It promises to be a memorable celebration of history, movement and national unity, reminding Malaysians that sometimes the most meaningful steps are those taken together,” he said in a press release.

The event will kick off at 2.30pm on Nov 5 and is supported by shoemaker Bata, Merdeka 118, Etika, FWHS Medik, DCS Entertainment and Prince Court Medical Centre.
