PETALING JAYA:
A foreign woman was killed and her two-year-old daughter seriously injured after they were hit by a sports utility vehicle while crossing Jalan Sultan Azlan Shah in Penang last night.

Timur Laut police chief Abdul Rozak Muhammad said the 40-year-old woman died at the scene from severe injuries.

“An initial investigation found that at about 8.40pm, a 57-year-old man was driving the SUV from his home in Sungai Dua towards the Penang International Airport.

“His vehicle hit the victim and her daughter, aged two, who were crossing the road,” Bernama reported him as saying.

Rozak said the SUV driver was not injured, and the case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for causing death by reckless or dangerous driving.
