KUANTAN: A four-year-old boy died after being struck by a multi-purpose vehicle while riding a bicycle near a surau at Perumahan Rakyat Pak Mahat here yesterday.
District police chief Ashari Abu Samah said Zulfan Adwa Zulkifli succumbed to his injuries at 2.24am today at Tengku Ampuan Afzan Hospital here.
He said preliminary investigations showed the accident occurred at about 6.30pm when the vehicle driven by a 32-year-old man from the housing area was heading towards Jalan Tanjung Lumpur.
“While making a left turn, the driver is believed to have hit the victim, who was riding a bicycle in the middle of the road,” he said in a statement.
He added that the case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for dangerous or reckless driving.
