State infrastructure, transport, and digital committee chairman Zairil Khir Johari said six landslides were recorded from early this morning until noon.
A technical team from the public works department (JKR) has been mobilised to the route for further investigation.
“Due to safety factors, Jalan Tun Sardon (P14), which was scheduled to reopen at 6pm today, will remain closed until further notice. All road users are advised to plan their journeys accordingly,” Zairil said in a statement.
He said the cleanup of the road that began yesterday has been temporarily paused because of continuous heavy rain.
Yesterday, FMT reported that the road had been closed following seven landslides and incidents of trees being uprooted and boulders crashing down.
Zairil was reported saying the reopening of the road would depend on the weather.
The worst of the seven landslides took place near the Anjung Indah lookout point along Jalan Tun Sardon at about 5pm. The fire and rescue department said its team found that soil, boulders and collapsed trees had covered an area the size of a small classroom.
A video of the landslide showed a car narrowly missing the falling trees and earth. No vehicles were trapped or casualties reported.
