“The report has not been released. We will provide updates when there are developments,” Inspector-General of Police Khalid Ismail said at a press conference at Bukit Aman today.
Rafizi had said the attack on his 12-year-old son occurred at a shopping mall in Putrajaya at about 2pm on Aug 13, and that CCTV footage showed two men had followed his wife’s car on a motorcycle before the incident.
He said his son, who was dragged and stabbed with a syringe, was taken to hospital for treatment and a checkup.
The assailants escaped.
The former PKR deputy president said the attack was planned, and that his wife was likely observed by the assailants for a few days before it was carried out.
He said the attack was likely linked to a case he was looking into, following a meeting he had with a group of whistleblowers a week before.
Khalid also previously said the phone number used to send threatening texts to Rafizi’s wife after the incident was registered to a foreigner.
According to Rafizi, a text message from the number read: “Be quiet. If you continue, AIDS.”
Police are investigating the case under Section 14(d) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017 for sexual assault, as well as Sections 324 and 352 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous weapons or means, and unprovoked use of criminal force.
