PETALING JAYA:
A pathologist has confirmed that a mother and daughter who were killed yesterday died of neck injuries caused by a sharp weapon, believed to be a meat cleaver.

“Checks also found the injuries on both victims were similar and likely occurred at the same time,” consulting pathologist Dr Zahari Noor said, Bernama reported.

Speaking at the forensics unit in Butterworth, he said the autopsies on the two victims also revealed other wounds that showed they tried to defend themselves.

Sariya Che Hin, 51, and her daughter Nur Afrina Alisha Abdul Rahim, 11, were found dead at home in Juru last night. Police have detained a man after he reported finding their bodies when he returned home at about 7.30pm.

It is understood that the woman’s body was found in the ground-floor kitchen, while her daughter’s body was found upstairs.

The autopsies on both the mother and daughter were completed at 4.30pm today, and their bodies were claimed by their next of kin for burial at the Masjid Jeneri Muslim cemetery in Jeneri, Sik, Kedah.
