Negeri Sembilan police chief Alzafny Ahmad said the investigation paper had been referred to the Attorney-General’s Chambers for further action.
He said the probe was thorough, and involved Bukit Aman’s forensic investigation and behavioural science units.
“We are looking into the possibility of bullying. So far, statements have been recorded from 49 witnesses,” Kosmo reported him as saying.
Alzafny advised the public against speculating, sharing unverified information or commenting irresponsibly on the matter.
A post-mortem on the 10-year-old boy on Oct 2 determined the cause of death to be compression to the neck, with no other injuries found on the body.
The incident came just days after a nine-year-old pupil died after falling into an uncovered manhole at a school in Lenggeng, also in Negeri Sembilan.
