The ministry said the quota increase applies to more than 53,900 e-hailing drivers, verified through cross-checks with the Land Public Transport Agency.
At the same time, registered boat users in Sarawak have been added to the list of eligible recipients, following earlier expansions to Sabah and boat users under the Malaysian Fisheries Development Authority.
“Based on data obtained from the Sarawak Rivers Board and relevant state government agencies, the finance ministry has activated BUDI95 eligibility for over 1,400 registered private boat users in the state,” it said in a statement.
In addition, over 11,400 newly licensed drivers nationwide are now eligible, bringing the total number of BUDI95 beneficiaries to more than 16 million Malaysians.
The BUDI95 programme, launched in late September as part of the government’s subsidy rationalisation, enables eligible Malaysian drivers with valid driving licences to purchase up to 300 litres of RON95 petrol per month at RM1.99 per litre.
The ministry said the subsidy programme remains targeted, transparent and directly beneficial to the public.
“The finance ministry, together with relevant agencies, will continue to monitor BUDI95 implementation and make improvements from time to time,” it said.
