He said the original equipment manufacturer (OEM) was fully responsible for ensuring that the aerotrain operates at maximum efficiency – 100% for a single train and 99.5% when two trains are running simultaneously.
“We want to ensure 100% operational efficiency.
“If they fail to meet this, a penalty of up to RM190,000 per month will be imposed. They must make sure the system is always tip-top,” he said during Question Time in the Dewan Rakyat today.
Hasbi was responding to Khairil Nizam Khirudin (PN-Jerantut), who asked whether the OEM would face penalties if it failed to maintain the aerotrain’s 100% operational availability.
He said the aerotrain project was fully completed on June 30 and began operations on July 1, with a two-year defect liability period.
Hasbi said a total of 19 minor incidents were recorded between July 2 and Sept 30, mostly involving the signalling system, including cases where passengers attempted to manually force open the train doors.
“Repairs were carried out immediately, with officers and technicians stationed on-site to ensure that all issues are rectified promptly,” he said.
He added that Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd continues to work closely with system manufacturer Alstom to ensure the aerotrain’s smooth and stable operation.
