Kuala Langat district police chief Akmalrizal Radzi said a General Operations Force team stopped a four-wheel-drive truck and the SUV, both carrying foreign nationals, at about 4.30am.
“The driver of the truck quickly reversed and crashed into a car driven by one of the GOF personnel.
“At the same time, the SUV also crashed into the police car. Two officers fired five shots at the SUV’s rear tyre,” Akmalrizal said in a statement today.
In the confusion, he said, the driver of the truck drove against traffic into the toll area, while the SUV sped off towards the South Klang Valley Expressway (SKVE).
“The officers tried to chase after the SUV and later found it abandoned by the side of the SKVE, with no one inside. A search for the occupants was unsuccessful, and no illegal items were found in the SUV,” he said.
No one was injured, and the search for the occuoants of bith vehicles is ongoing.
The case is being investigated under Section 186 of the Penal Code.
