Man held over death of 3-year-old girl near Kuching

PETALING JAYA:
A 32-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the death of a three-year-old girl in Kampung Rampangi, Santubong, near Kuching, on Tuesday.

Kuching police chief Alexson Naga Chabu said a report on the incident was lodged yesterday by a 52-year-old local man.

The complainant said a friend informed him of his daughter’s death on Tuesday.

In a statement today, Alexson said initial investigations indicate the victim may have died as a result of abuse.

Acting on information, a team from the criminal investigation department from the Kuching police headquarters arrested the suspect in Kampung Krian, Jalan Padawan, at 11am today.

He said the suspect, who had six prior convictions for drug-related offences, also tested positive for drugs.

Alexson said the case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.
