Security guard in T’ganu pleads not guilty to raping 9-year-old girl

PETALING JAYA:
A security guard pleaded not guilty in the Kemaman sessions court today to three counts of raping a nine-year-old girl in Chukai, Terengganu, last month.

The charges were read against Afizzafri Residalan, 30, before judge Wan Suhaila Mohd, Berita Harian reported.

On the first charge, Afizzafri, who works in a supermarket in Chukai, is alleged to have raped the girl between midnight and 6am in a surau at Taman Jakar sometime last month.

On the second and third charges, he is alleged to have raped the same girl in a toy shop at a shopping complex near the surau, and in a car within the shopping complex compound, on the same day.

The charges were framed under Section 376(2)(e) of the Penal Code for rape, which provides for 10 to 30 years’ imprisonment and whipping, upon conviction.

The prosecution was led by deputy public prosecutor Noor Asyikin Hashim, while Afizzafri was unrepresented.

Wan Suhaila set bail at RM24,000, and set Nov 5 for remention of the case.
