PETALING JAYA:
Police have arrested a 27-year-old engineer for allegedly sending death threats to a lawyer representing one of the teenagers charged with bullying Zara Qairina Mahathir.

The Kota Kinabalu magistrates’ court allowed the police to remand the suspect for four days until Oct 12, Daily Express reported.

The case is being investigated under Section 507C(1) of the Penal Code for harassment by way of threatening words.

Lawyer Ram Singh reportedly received several threatening text messages, including one which said: “Soon you’ll die and be questioned by God.”

The sender also purportedly said he knew where Ram worked.

Ram lodged a police report last month, fearing for the safety of himself and his family.

The suspect is said to have surrendered to the police yesterday.

Ram is representing one of the five teenagers accused of verbally abusing Zara, who died in July. His client is also one of the child witnesses in the inquest into the Form 1 student’s death.
