Kapit police chief Rohana Nanu said a member of the public alerted police after spotting the body near Wharf Kapit at 11.25am.
“By the time police arrived, the body had been swept away by strong currents.
“It was found by the fire and rescue department and civil defence force personnel at Teluk Selindung at 12.10pm, about 5km from Wharf Kapit.
“The body has been sent to Kapit Hospital,” she said.
Rohana said the man was about 170cm tall, had light brown skin, and was believed to be in his 40s.
“He had a koi fish tattoo on the front of the right thigh and two ‘terung Iban’ (sour eggplant) tattoos on the front of both shoulders,” she said.
