Federal territories minister Dr Zaliha Mustafa said the vacant position in Yayasan Wilayah Persekutuan’s board of trustees would be filled as soon as she receives Umno’s nominee for the post.
KUALA LUMPUR:
Federal territories minister Dr Zaliha Mustafa is still waiting for Umno to propose a candidate to fill a vacant post on Yayasan Wilayah Persekutuan’s board of trustees.

In the meantime, she said YWP continues to operate as usual.

“We’re still waiting (for Umno’s nomination). Once I’ve received it I will immediately make the appointment,” she said at a press conference here.

On Sept 17, Zaliha said she had contacted Federal Territories Umno chief Johari Ghani to suggest a suitable candidate following the resignation of Batu Umno chief Gulam Muszaffar Gulam Mustakim.

Gulam Muszaffar relinquished the post after announcing that Batu Umno had cut ties with Pakatan Harapan in the federal territories over the alleged unfair allocation of residents’ representative council subzones.

‘Fragile’ Deepavali bazaar tents to be replaced

Zaliha said 118 sturdier tents would be set up tonight to replace the “fragile” tents that were installed for the Deepavali bazaar in Brickfields.

The minister said the issue came down to miscommunication with Kuala Lumpur City Hall.

Previously, MIC deputy president M Saravanan expressed dissatisfaction over the tents that had been set up, saying they were flimsy and fell apart quickly in mild thunderstorms.
