
Bernama reported Dusuki as saying the Attorney-General’s Chambers (AGC) received the reply on Sept 29.
The notice issued on Sept 22 was in relation to Shafie’s remarks at an event in Kinabatangan on Sept 20, where he allegedly questioned the duration of the inquest.
On Sept 22, the AGC said it was reviewing Shafie’s remarks on the Zara case in detail.
It also said it would not hesitate to take legal action, including initiating contempt of court proceedings, once the review is completed.
Zara died on July 17 at Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Kota Kinabalu after being found unconscious in a drain near her school’s hostel in Papar at 4am on July 16.
On Aug 8, the AGC ordered that her remains be exhumed for a post-mortem before announcing an inquest into her death on Aug 13.
So far, 16 witnesses, including eight children, have testified in the inquest which began on Sept 3.
