
Perak fire and rescue department acting assistant operations director Shazlean Hanafiah said they received an emergency call at about 5pm, Sinar Harian reported.
He said five soldiers were rescued before the firemen arrived, while two remained trapped in the rear of the truck.
“The first victim was pulled out at 5.54pm and was confirmed dead. The second was extricated at 6.14pm with injuries and sent for treatment,” he said in a statement.
The rescue operation involved 11 personnel from the Kuala Kangsar and Meru Raya fire stations.
It is understood that it was raining at the time, and that no other vehicle was involved.
