PETALING JAYA:
A palm fruit harvester pleaded guilty at the Muar sessions court today to two counts of raping his teenage sister-in-law.

The accused, 39, entered the plea after the charges under Section 376(1) of the Penal Code were read before magistrate Nariman Badruddin, Berita Harian reported.

The father of two committed the first offence against the 13-year-old girl at a house in Kluang at 1am last March, and the second at another residence at 12.01am on Aug 31.

He faces up to 20 years’ jail and a whipping for each charge.

Deputy public prosecutor Nur Ameerah Allaudeen appeared for the prosecution while the accused was unrepresented.

He declined to apply for bail due to financial constraints and was sent to the Muar Correctional Centre for temporary remand.

The court fixed Oct 7 for the presentation of facts and sentencing.
