“JKR dispatched a team to the site at 5.30pm the same day to assess the situation and conduct a preliminary investigation.
“JKR sympathises and is deeply saddened by the incident that occurred at the school, which claimed the life of a nine-year-old child,” Bernama reported it as saying.
The department advised the public to respect the ongoing investigation by the authorities and said it is fully cooperating with police.
It also urged the public to remain vigilant and report any complaints or damage to public assets that may pose a danger.
On Saturday, Year 3 pupil Abdul Fattah Khairol Rizal died after falling into a sewage pit at the school.
Yesterday, education minister Fadhlina Sidek said her ministry, together with the Negeri Sembilan education department, would conduct an investigation into the incident.
She also said the ministry would take prompt action to prevent similar incidents from recurring.
