PETALING JAYA:
The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) deputy public prosecutor (DPP) who was arrested for alleged drug possession earlier this week was released today.

Putrajaya police chief Aidi Sham Mohamed said the suspect was freed as his three-day remand expired today, Berita Harian reported.

Aidi added that the investigation paper had been referred to prosecutors and that the cops were awaiting further instructions.

The DPP in question, who had reported for duty at the anti-graft agency just last week, was arrested for suspected drug possession on Tuesday.

MACC said the officer was arrested at his home, and that an inspection found a prohibited item suspected to be drugs. He was later remanded for three days to assist in the investigation.
