PETALING JAYA: The mother of a two-month-old baby is to face a charge of negligence by causing the baby’s death when she accidentally smothered him, police said.
Perak Tengah police chief Hafezul Helmi Hamzah said the mother, an Indonesian woman, would be charged on Monday (Sept 22) for causing death by negligence, Bernama reported.
He said an investigation revealed that the baby suffocated on Thursday when the mother unintentionally smothered him while sleeping on the same bed at their home in Kampung Sungai Dua Kota Setia, near Parit. The baby was confirmed dead at Seri Manjung Hospital.
