Faizul Ali Adam, 33, said he learnt of this from the social welfare department (JKM) after the death of his two-month-old daughter, Qaseh Aulia Faizul.
“We used to send our first daughter to the same childcare centre. We asked whether they were registered and they said yes,” the devastated father told FMT, adding that he felt “cheated” by the centre.
Faizul, an engineer, claimed that the investigating officer also told him there was no record of the childcare centre in JKM’s database.
Qaseh died while under the care of the centre last Tuesday. It was only her second day there.
Recalling the incident, Faizul said he and his wife Maisarah Rosli, 33, were disappointed with how the babysitter had handled Qaseh.
Citing footage from closed-circuit television, he said their baby was wrapped in a cloth and laid on her stomach at around 9.36am.
“After two minutes, at around 9.38am, the babysitter left my daughter to do other work. My daughter was bobbing her head but by 10am, there was no movement.
“Only at around 10.58am was the babysitter aware that there was no movement from my daughter. My daughter was left on her stomach like that for an hour,” he said, adding that the centre had then taken his daughter to a clinic and later to Universiti Malaya Medical Centre where she was pronounced dead.
Petaling Jaya police chief Fakhrudin Abdul Hamid told FMT that they are awaiting the post-mortem report.
