Govt’s inclusivity forcing PN to engage all races, says PKR man

R Ramanan says PAS never mentioned the Indian community in the past but has observably changed its approach.

PKR vice-president R Ramanan said the government’s emphasis on inclusivity is why the likes of PAS are reaching out to the Indian community, in particular.
PETALING JAYA:
The government’s Madani vision has forced Perikatan Nasional to engage all ethnicities instead of focusing only on one demographic of voters, says PKR vice-president R Ramanan.

The Sungai Buloh MP said the Madani government’s emphasis on inclusivity, with no race or group marginalised, was why the likes of PAS were reaching out to the Indian community in particular.

“PAS, which previously never mentioned the Indian community (in its outreach), has changed its approach. (Now they) are saying that we must care for the Indian community. They are seeking allies from parties led by Indian community leaders. Why?

“Because this is the strength of Madani. Madani is for all. It’s a vision for unity among all ethnic groups,” he said, according to Bernama.

He was commenting on the formation of a PN-led loose opposition coalition involving parties like Urimai and the Malaysian Advancement Party, among others.

PN has also held informal discussions with MCA and MIC, both of which are contemplating their future in the ruling Barisan Nasional coalition.
