
Bernama reported that judge Ainul Shahrin Mohamad meted out the fine on siblings Wong Kee Seung, 71, and Wong Kee Sooi, 62, after they pleaded guilty to the charge.
They were charged, as directors of Petrol Botani Sdn Bhd, which holds a retail controlled goods licence, with selling 2,558.16 litres of diesel to a man who filled the modified tank of a lorry with the fuel.
According to the licence conditions, the licence holders are only allowed to sell no more than 250 litres of diesel to vehicles with Malaysian registration numbers, with only one transaction per day, into the vehicle’s original tank.
The offence was allegedly committed at Petrol Botani’s BHPetrol Bandar Seri Botani petrol station on Jalan Seri Botani Utama, Bandar Seri Botani, Kinta, at about 10.45pm on Oct 5, 2023.
N Shamani, the prosecuting officer from the domestic trade and cost of living ministry, appeared for the prosecution, while the two brothers were represented by lawyer Khong Jia Luo.
