PETALING JAYA:
Police have arrested three suspects in connection with a commotion during the eviction of residents from 37 houses in Kampung Sungai Baru, Kuala Lumpur, today.

Inspector-General of Police Khalid Ismail said the trio were allegedly involved in the commotion which resulted in Dang Wangi police chief Sulizmie Affendy Sulaiman being struck on the head by an object flung at him.

Khalid said the senior cop was in stable condition after the incident, Bernama reported.

He also urged the public not to blindly react to the eviction but to ensure the information they received on the issue came from authentic sources.

Sulizmie was hurt amid a stand-off with residents, leaving him with a bleeding wound on his head.

Kuala Lumpur police chief Fadil Marsus said the authorities were merely executing a writ of vacant possession issued by the court for 37 terrace houses in Kampung Sungai Baru.

Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim and home minister Saifuddin Nasution Ismail have condemned the incident, with Anwar ordering an immediate investigation to be carried out.
