PETALING JAYA:
An elderly woman was injured after her son allegedly jabbed her in the eyes with a sharp object at a flat in Mak Mandin, Butterworth, yesterday.

Berita Harian reported that in the 12.30pm incident, the 72-year-old woman was said to have just returned from religious classes at a nearby mosque and found her 47-year-old son in her home.

The suspect then chased his mother out of the house. He then took a sharp object and jabbed her in the eyes, injuring her.

Neighbours managed to rescue the woman, taking her to a hospital where she received stitches for injuries to her face.

Police later arrested the suspect at the house and a urine test found him positive for drug use.

The suspect had completed undergoing monitoring by the National Anti-Drugs Agency on Sept 2.

A magistrates’ court later allowed police to remand him for four days for investigations under Section 324 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous weapons or means.
