PETALING JAYA:
A tahfiz teacher who purportedly caned a student to the point of injuring the 12-year-old has been remanded for seven days by a sessions court in Melaka.

The 22-year-old was nabbed yesterday after the boy’s mother lodged a police report, Sinar Harian reported.

The victim’s mother lodged a report at the Masjid Tanah police station after noticing bruises on several parts of his body.

She then called the suspect who admitted to caning her son, claiming that he was uncontrollable and had refused to obey instructions.

Police subsequently arrested the suspect and are investigating him under the Child Act 2001 for abuse.
