PETALING JAYA:
Police have opened a disciplinary inquiry into officers and accompanying personnel after a security breach involving the Sultan of Perak, Sultan Nazrin Shah, yesterday.

Perak police chief Noor Hisam Nordin said if any negligence is found, a formal disciplinary investigation will be launched to allow a thorough probe before further action is taken.

He also said authorities are reviewing both short- and long-term administrative measures, Buletin TV3 reported.

“All officers and personnel involved are still on duty.

“A meeting with the palace is scheduled for tomorrow to discuss follow-up action on the incident,” he was quoted as saying.

Yesterday, a woman rushed onto the stage and ran towards Sultan Nazrin during the Perak state-level National Day celebration.

She was quickly detained by security personnel after she entered the stage during the Perak anthem.

Ipoh police chief Abang Zainal Abidin Abang Ahmad said the woman has been remanded until Wednesday, and the case is being investigated for attempted grievous hurt under Section 325/511 of the Penal Code.
