PETALING JAYA :
Transport minister Loke Siew Fook has invited Chinese online retail giant JD.com to invest in a smart warehouse at the Selangor Aeropark as part of efforts to turn Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) into a major air cargo hub.

Loke said that in his meeting with representatives from JD.com, he reaffirmed Malaysia’s commitment to advancing the cooperation between KLIA and China’s Zhengzhou Xinzheng International Airport.

“Both sides underscored their shared vision of establishing a seamless ‘Air Silk Road’ between Asean and China through comprehensive collaboration in civil aviation and logistics,” he said in a Facebook post.

Loke also said Malaysia aspired to position KLIA as a regional logistics hub, in line with JD.com’s strategy to expand its trade network across Asean and China.

He added that JD.com is China’s leading one-stop e-commerce platform, serving over 551 million active customers with direct access to a wide range of authentic, high-quality products.

The Chinese firm operates one of the most advanced warehouse and logistics networks in China, and has already established a presence in Malaysia with four warehouses.

“With a strong focus on global logistics, warehousing, express delivery, and cross-border freight, JD.com is well positioned to contribute to the growth of Malaysia’s logistics ecosystem and to strengthen Asean–China trade linkages,” Loke said.
