PETALING JAYA:
A 46-year-old nanny was charged separately in Johor Bahru today with neglecting a 12-month-old girl and disposing of her body last month.

Goh Mui Leng pleaded not guilty after the charges were read out to her in two sessions courts, Harian Metro reported.

Goh was charged under the Child Act 2001 with neglecting a baby girl at a house near Jalan Hijauan 2, Horizon Hills, Iskander Puteri on July 20.

If convicted, she could be jailed up to 20 years or fined a maximum of RM50,000, or both.

She was later charged with disposing of the infant’s body with the intention of concealing her death and attempting to escape punishment.

The charge, framed under the Penal Code, carries a maximum sentence of seven years and a fine, upon conviction.

Goh was granted bail of RM10,000. The court fixed Oct 3 for mention.
