MELAKA:
Police are investigating allegations that a 12-year-old schoolboy was nearly abducted by a man in a white van while cycling home on Aug 15.

Investigations so far suggested there was no attempted kidnap of the victim, and the people in the van had no interaction with the child, Melaka Tengah police chief Christopher Patit said.

He said police are investigating the boy’s report that the incident occurred at about 5pm on Aug 15 while he was cycling home from a shop. It did not take place at the school, as alleged in social media reports, he said.

Social media reports had claimed that a masked man in a white van had attempted to kidnap a primary school student in Jalan Datuk Palembang and that he managed to escape being kidnapped.
