PETALING JAYA: A 33-year-old man was charged in the Temerloh sessions court in Pahang today with two counts of sexual assault on a six-year-old girl at an orphanage where his wife works as a teacher.
The man was charged under Section 14(d) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017, which provides for up to 20 years’ imprisonment and whipping, if convicted, Berita Harian reported.
It did not state when the alleged offences were committed.
The prosecution was carried out by deputy public prosecutor Khairunnisa Zaffar, while the accused was unrepresented.
The court denied bail, citing the seriousness of the offences, and fixed Sept 27 for case mention.
