3 Chinese nationals jailed 28 months for breaking into home

Three men from China have been sentenced to 28 months in prison by the Kangar magistrates’ court after pleading guilty to breaking into a house in Perlis last month.

Magistrate Ana Rozana Nor ordered Yin Guanghua, 50, Lin Bingde, 54, and Luo Zhibing, 38, to begin their sentence from the date of their arrest on July 18, Bernama reported.

The three foreigners were jointly charged with breaking into the home of a 62-year-old man in Taman Bukit Kubu Fasa 2, Kuala Perlis, at 10.13pm on July 18 with the intention of committing theft.

The offence under Section 457 of the Penal Code is punishable by a maximum five years in prison and a fine upon conviction.

If the intended offence was theft, an accused can be jailed a maximum 14 years, while they could face a fine or whipping for every subsequent offence.

All three men were unrepresented.
