SHAH ALAM:
From next year, MPs will be asked to allocate part of their constituency funds to provide uniforms for members of the civil defence force in their respective areas.

Deputy prime minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said this initiative aims to strengthen the uniformed body and encourage greater public participation in civil defence.

“All ministry staff are also encouraged to join the civil defence,” he told reporters after officiating the 16th National Civil Defence Students’ Corps graduation parade and commissioning at Universiti Teknologi Mara here today.

Zahid said the civil defence force was the next line of national security after the armed forces and police.

He said its training equipped members with resilience, discipline, and the strong character needed to face emergencies and safeguard the nation.
